Post 6 – Mid-Project Progress Review

Date: July 24, 2026
Estimated Reading Time: 10 minutes

Context

At this stage of the WPCredits project, I took some time to review my progress and evaluate what I have accomplished so far. Looking back at the work I have completed helped me identify both my achievements and the areas where I still need to improve.

This reflection also allowed me to measure how much I have learned since starting the project.

Procedure

So far, I have completed the following tasks:

  • Created and customized my WordPress portfolio website.
  • Published my About Me, WPCredits Project, Blog, and Contact pages.
  • Selected Polyglots (es_CR) as my contribution area.
  • Learned how the WordPress translation platform works.
  • Submitted my first translation for review.
  • Published several journal posts documenting my learning process.

Progress Metrics

At this point in the project, I have achieved the following milestones:

  • Portfolio website created and configured.
  • Main navigation menu completed.
  • 6 journal posts published.
  • Contribution area selected: Polyglots (es_CR).
  • First translation submitted.
  • Continuing to improve my knowledge of the translation workflow and localization guidelines.

Challenges

Although I have made good progress, I still need to gain more experience with the translation review process and become more familiar with the terminology used by the Polyglots community.

Another challenge is ensuring that every translation follows the style guide and sounds natural for Spanish speakers in Costa Rica.

What I Learned

This project has helped me improve not only my WordPress skills but also my attention to detail and understanding of software localization.

I have learned that contributing to an open-source project requires patience, collaboration, and a willingness to learn from feedback.

Reflection

Overall, I am satisfied with my progress so far. I feel much more confident using WordPress than when I first started, and I have gained valuable experience working with the Polyglots team.

For the remainder of the project, I plan to continue contributing translations, improve the quality of my work, and complete the remaining journal posts while documenting everything I learn.
