Context

The onboarding section was my first introduction to the WPCredits program and the WordPress community. Its purpose was to explain the objectives of the project, the contribution process, and the importance of participating in an open-source initiative.

This section helped me understand what is expected throughout the course and how my work will contribute to both my learning and the WordPress ecosystem.

Procedure

During the onboarding process, I completed the following activities:

• Read the WPCredits project guidelines.
• Learned about the different WordPress contribution teams.
• Explored the WordPress.org community and its resources.
• Created and configured my WordPress portfolio.
• Reviewed the course requirements and planned my contributions.

Challenges

At the beginning, there was a lot of new information about the WordPress community, its contribution teams, and the overall workflow. It took some time to understand how the different teams work together and how contributors can participate.

I also had to become familiar with the WordPress interface and learn how to organize my portfolio correctly.

What I Learned

The onboarding process gave me a better understanding of how WordPress is maintained by a global community of volunteers and contributors.

I also learned that contributing to WordPress is not limited to programming. People can contribute through documentation, translations, design, support, accessibility, testing, and many other areas.

Reflection

This experience made me realize that open-source projects depend on collaboration and continuous learning. I now have a clearer understanding of how the WPCredits program works and what I hope to achieve during the semester.

I feel more confident using WordPress and look forward to continuing my learning journey while documenting each step of the process.
